CF Montreal Looks To Improve Road Record Against Charlotte FC
It’s an obvious fact that continues to perplex its fans and the media, but CF Montreal will be looking for only their second road win of the season on Saturday against Charlotte FC.
“When you win it’s always good”, Losada answered in the first question of the day on Thursday morning. “We are already thinking about the game on Saturday.”
We also got an update on Samuel Piette, Lassi Lappalainen, and Zachary Brault-Guillard, the latter of whom Losada confirmed won’t be in the lineup after being called up by Canada for the Gold Cup.
“Lassi we will see because he is day-to-day and Samuel is little-by-little and started training with the team on Monday but only partially”.
The team will also be missing Aaron Herrera, who was called into international duty when he was named to the roster for Guatemala’s own Gold Cup campaign.
Losing two wingbacks is not not an ideal situation and it remains to be seen what Losada will do come Saturday evening with his lineup and his formation.
“We will see, but honestly it’s unfortunate. We are in a tough situation and unfortunately I don’t have the answer right now,” he admitted.
Charlotte FC is currently on a four-game losing streak. The game will be on turf at Bank of America Stadium, which is also the home of the Carolina Panthers.
“Yes, it will be on turf and two days after a game where we spent a lot of energy with travel. There are only three points that separate us in the standings, so it’s an important game.”
Losada was asked how his team can play on the road like they play at home, and it wasn’t an easy answer for the coach.
“It’s up to us to find a solution. There are no excuses: we need to put forward a good game plan, especially against a team like Charlotte, and you have to win because it’s an important game.”
Mason Toye was also asked how his team can repeat their home success on the road.
“We are still trying to figure that out”, Toye answered. “Hopefully we can figure that out on Saturday and approach it as a home game, get a strong start, and again hope we can get a good result on the road.”
Toye also responded to what he is expecting on Saturday night against Charlotte.
“It’s going to be good, we haven’t done well on the road. It doesn’t matter who we play, we know it’s going to be difficult away from home. It’s a must-win game.”
Bryce Duke confirmed he picked up a small knock and says he is slowly getting back to 100%. I also spoke about trying to be successful on the road.
“I know away games are tough going into a different atmosphere, but if we stay composed and stick to the gameplan, scoring early and going from there.”
Duke was also asked about what to anticipate from Charlotte.
“Charlotte is a good team. They have been a good team since they came into the league and they get a lot of fans, so it will be a good atmosphere.”
