After a long two week break, the 2024 MLS campaign continues for the Reds.

Toronto FC, who are on 24 points with a 7-7-3 record, return back to league action and host the Chicago Fire, who are currently standing in 14th place in the Eastern conference on 15 points with a 3-8-6 record.

The Reds return to home games comes after two straight draws on the road before the international break broke out. The Reds drew against Philadelphia Union and D.C. United.

TFC will head into this matchup at home with a couple of absences to the squad, as Coach Herdman is without a key number of players due to mix of reasons as captain Jonathan Osorio and Richie Laryea are on duty with the Canadian National team for the Copa America, and goalkeeper Sean Johnson – who signed a one year contract extension earlier in the week guaranteed through 2025 with a option of 2026 – is away with the US national team for the Copa America as well.

Federico Bernardeschi and Nicksoen Gomis will be missing the game due to a red card received in the D.C. United game. Meanwhile Shane O’Neill, and Brandon Servania remain injured and Tyrese Spicer is listed as questionable.

With these players absent Coach Herdman will have Luka Gavran within the sticks for the next couple of the games as Johnson competes with the US national team. Herdman will be ecstatic to have Lorenzo Insigne and Prince Owusu back in the squad as they missed both of previous draws on the road.

Coach Herdman will want nothing more but a win against a home crowd after the last home game for the Reds ended in a 4-3 loss to FC Cincinnati. The Reds will also want to add to the streak of currently being undefeated in their last 12 home games against the Chicago Fire.
