AFC Toronto is continuing to round out its roster as the start of the inaugural Northern Super League season inches closer to kickoff.

Announced today is the signing of veteran centre back Hong Hye-ji, who has made 40 caps for the South Korea Senior National team. Hong is a huge signing for AFC Toronto given the experience she will bring into the team.

They recently played in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and join the Northern Super League from South Korean side Hyundai Steel Red Angels WFC, who have won the WK League a record of 11 times. Hong helped the team to secure the title in 2021, ’22 and ’23.

This is AFC Toronto’s eighth player singing and the third designated international player, after midfielder Aoi Kizaki and defender Croix Soto. Each team is allowed eight internationals on their roster.

Kaela Hansen, Jade Kocacevic, Emma Regan, Cloey Uddenberg, and Leah Pais are all the remaining singings that AFC Toronto has thus far unveiled.

The first-ever season of pro-women’s soccer in Canada set to kick off on April 16.
