First Look: Atletico Ottawa’s New Primary Kit
Reigning Canadian Premier League regular season champion Atletico Ottawa has Beyonce-dropped its new primary kit in an email blast sent to season ticket holders today.
The familiar red-and-white stripe kit now features a darker tonal camouflage pattern on the red bits which is actual the clever outline pattern of Ottawa itself. This year, the back of the primary kit will feature a large version of this map that also details the municipal borders, with a community-focused ‘W’ on the back paying homage to ‘The Dub’, the supporters section.
Those are the same fans who have recently helped Atletico Ottawa to a 30% increase on season ticket sales, by the way.
The club previously had ComeOn! as a front of kit sponsor, but the gambling company’s partnership with the CPL appears to be over: between September and October, the company was quietly dropped from the league’s list of partners. In its stead as Atletico Ottawa’s front-of-jersey sponsor now rests Maple Lodge Farms, who inked a multi-year league partnership last November.
The sleeves of the club’s primary and upcoming alternate kit will also feature CIBC on them. The bank signed a multi-year deal with the CPL, who have also added Carlsberg as a league sponsor and – as part of that deal – now boast Somersby as a league partner as well.
The team has yet to reveal its alternate kit, which is something likely being saved for when the team returns from Spain later on this week. The first two seasons of the club’s existences saw them don a black alternate kit, though last year introduce a blue secondary look. Thus far, it isn’t known what the 2023 Atletico Ottawa alternate threads will look like, but they’re coming.
The Atletico Ottawa home opener against the Halifax Wanderers (who have some new threads of their own) is now just two-and-a-half weeks away.
