With the slew of incoming jersey reveals due before the kickoff of the 2024 Canadian Premier League season, Atletico Ottawa has just unveiled its new alternate kit for this year, and it’s one that is certainly going to attract new eyes to the game and league.

Known as “The Soccer Culture” Kit, Ottleti‘s new shirts are a bright, bold, vibrant, and colourful design the likes of which we have not really seen on a CanPL pitch.

Atletico Ottawa writes via its press release:

“The design of the jersey draws upon the Ottawa Tourism radiant O family, which is the symbol of Ottawa Tourism representing the diversity of Ottawa’s identity, from its people to the experiences on offer.”

The kit features a series of stylized Ottawa Tourism snowflake ‘O’s overlapping each other in a variety of colours. According to the club, each colour has its own meaning such as Outdoor Blue, Celebration Pink, Honour Coral, Progress Green, Discovery Orange, and more.

This kit is the product of an Atletico Ottawa initiative to recognize those in the Ottawa and global community who are shaping soccer culture close to home and around the world. These include the aforementioned Ottawa Tourism for their assistance in building soccer fans and infrastructure in the city, and the club’s official supporters groups – Capital City SG and Bytown Boys SG – for their devotion to Atletico at home matches and at external events. There’s also Active Newcomer Youth Ottawa (ANYO), a local group that uses sport participation to better integrate newcomers and refugees into local communities.

“I think we can all be very proud of this jersey,” says Ottawa Tourism’s Michael Crockatt. “Grassroots sports activity is where we see the community really come together and we start to see the next generation of heroes being developed. We are so proud of the athletes who go out and represent Ottawa in the world, but seeing where they start, and their development in the community is so special.”

“We’re not just showcasing a jersey, but a symbol of unity and diversity within Ottawa’s vibrant soccer community,” adds Atletico Ottawa CEO Fernando Lopez. “We proudly celebrate the variety of cultures and experiences that shape this city’s identity. An identity that Atlético is extremely proud to be a growing part of.”

This unique jersey can be purchased right now on Atletico Ottawa’s Online Shop and will be available soon at TD Place’s Lansdowne Sports store and Ottawa sports outfitter, Dislavo Sports.

The club’s new primary kit launched last month, with proceeds of kit sales helping fight food insecurity in the city.
