Atletico Ottawa’s New Kit Helps Fight Against Food Insecurity

By on February 26, 2024 0 682 Views

After an early first look at Atletico Ottawa’s 2024 primary kit went online last night, the club has now formally unveiled its all-new Community First kit.

Primary sponsor Maple Lodge Farms isn’t just front and centre in the new threads, but is using the opportunity to take affirmative action, too: for every kit sold, Maple Lodge Farms will donate a case of products to community food centre partners like Ottawa’s Caldwell Family Centre.

That means each kit sale will provide enough donated food to six families – or thirty people – providing deep purpose to the club’s community kit.

“This initiative embodies our commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond the pitch,” says Atletico Ottawa CEO Fernando Lopez. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to impact lives in our nation’s capital positively.”

This is the second straight season which will have Maple Lodge Farms be Atletico Ottawa’s main sponsor, while the sleeve will continue to have CIBC following the bank’s multi-year partnership with the league.

The club’s new threads boast a much thinner stripe design than last year, and there’s new details in them too. The two-tone red stripes boast an inverted colour scheme for the diagonal stripes inside them, and a dark blue collar and trim compliments the red-and-white primary colours.

There’s also a subtle “Pour Ottawa / For Ottawa” motto at the bottom of the stripes, with the back of the kit transitioning to a full red colour block.

Beyond the smooth look, however, will be a kit that goes above and beyond in giving back to the community in which Atletico Ottawa calls home.

“Through our partnership, we aim to address food insecurity head-on hand in hand with Atletico, ensuring that every jersey sold translates into tangible meals for those in need.” adds Maple Lodge Farms COO Fred Marques. “Together, we can make a significant difference to the lives of Ottawa residents, and we’re proud to be part of this meaningful endeavour.”

With the Community First kit now unveiled. The club’s alternate look remains to be seen. Last season saw the club don an icy look, but we expect this year’s to take a different approach.

Atletico Ottawa becomes just the second club to unveil any of its new threads for 2024, with Cavalry unveiling two kits a few weeks ago.
