It looks like Inter Kashi forward Edmund Lalrindika is set to join Atletico Ottawa on loan with an option to buy, as per multiple outlets from abroad.

The 25-year-old striker lit the I-League alight this season, tallying an incredible eight assists and four goals in 24 appearances to help Inter Kashi secure itself a top four spot. The forward is now keen to test himself abroad, with his club’s partnership with Atletico Madrid paving way for the likely loan move to sister club Atletico Ottawa.

The I-League side may already ring a familiar bell for CPL fans given that it purchased Gianni Dos Santos in January for an undisclosed fee. The former CPL champion went on to make ten league appearances, contributing two goals and three assists before the season wrapped.

“Edmund had offers from several ISL clubs but decided to stay with Inter Kashi to explore his options to play abroad with Atletico Madrid’s connections,” reports Indian outlet IFTWC.

Lalrindika proved a history maker at Inter Kashi, arriving on loan from Bengaluru in the team’s first 2023 campaign. He scored the club’s first goal in a 2-2 draw, more recently inking a two-year contract with the I-League expansion team in the midst of his prolific 2024 season.

The former Indian youth international’s career began with Bengaluru and saw him loaned to both the youth-focused Indian Arrows and East Bengal. The centre-forward also tallied six appearances for India at the U-20 level, scoring twice.

Having made the third-most goal contributions out of any I-League player this season, he’s reportedly keen to test himself abroad – and with Atletico Madrid overseeing the likely move between two of their associated clubs, a spell with Atletico Ottawa looks likely.

Atletico Madrid has helped Ottleti secure some intriguing loan moves in the past, with players like Diego Espejo and Alberto Soto arriving through the Madrid pipeline. The club currently has defenders Liberman Torres (Villareal B) and Luke Singh (Toronto FC) on loan, with Lalrindika set to be the third loanee – though there will an opportunity to make his loan spell permanent should he impress.

Atletico Ottawa is off to a hot start this season after a ‘super club’-worthy offseason, with the team opening with two wins and one draw.

When asked about the potential loan, Atletico Ottawa stated that it does not comment on transfer activity.
