Atletico Ottawa Adds On-Loan Defender Ivan Perez To Full Deal
Ivan Perez will remain at TD Place following the recent expiry of his loan from UD San Sebastian de los Reyes, with Atletico Ottawa now inking him to a full deal for the remainder of the season that includes a club option for a further year.
The 29-year-old had initially arrived on loan in May as a precautionary depth signing ahead of a busy stretch of fixtures.
Perez has featured in three matches for the capital city club since arriving, tallying 64 minutes of action as a game-closing substitute. That’s a role the full-back has been familiar with this year, with his 18 appearances for his former side mostly coming from the bench.
The full-back’s stint with Atletico Ottawa represents his first time outside of Europe, with Perez having previously played within his native Spain. Having developed through the Atletico Madrid academy, he made his debut for the side in the Copa del Rey before landing with the likes of Getafe CF B, Yeclano Deportivo, Real Mercia CF, and UD San Sebastian de los Reyes in the Spanish third division.
Perez’s new deal means that the club now has only two players on loan, with Diego Espejo and Vladimir Moragrega here for the season.
Atletico Ottawa has been in a good stretch of form during Ivan’s time in red and white, recording four wins, two draws, and just one loss. Perez is expected to remain a depth option behind Maxim Tissot.
