Atletico Ottawa Signs Noah Verhoeven
The champions of the 2022 Canadian Premier League regular season are adding former York United and Pacific FC midfielder Noah Verhoeven to the equation.
The 23-year-old midfielder now arrives to TD Place on a two-year deal after his option year at YLS was declined, re-uniting him in with Zach Verhoven in the middle of the park.
His last two seasons with York United saw him accrue five assists through 56 appearances, with Atletico Ottawa hoping he can bring a new style of creativity to the club’s midfield contingent in a deeper part of the pitch.
“We’re thrilled to have Noah join our club,” said Atletico Ottawa CEO Fernando Lopez. “He’s a talented player with a lot of potential and we believe he’ll be a valuable addition to our squad.”
Now entering his fifth year in Canada’s top flight, Verhoeven says he’s eager to contribute to the club’s continued success.
Born in Surrey, Verhoeven developed with the Whitecaps Academy and spent full season with USL side Fresno FC, completing 23 appearances for the US team in his first full season of professional action.
During his time with Pacific, he also joined the Canadian national team for a training camp ahead of the Gold Cup.
Capable of playing a variety of midfield roles, he’s a quiet personality but a hard-working, sometimes undersung midfielder who should prove an intriguing addition in Ottawa.

The capital club will enter its fourth season with high expectations after finishing as regular season champions last year, running just one match short of a North Star Shield title in front of a home crowd of 15,000.
It looks like the new signings for Atletico Ottawa will now start to trickle in, with the club having revealed veteran defender Karl Ouimette on Tuesday.
