Ruben Del Campo Bids Farewell To Atletico Ottawa
Swiss striker Ruben Del Campo is saying his farewell to Atletico Ottawa after spending two seasons in the nation’s capital.
The 24-year-old attacker came inches away from a golden boot win this season, finishing with fourteen goals throughout all competitions to help Atletico Ottawa reach the playoff semi-finals.
Flashback: Ruben Del Campo ‘In A Sweet Moment’ With Atletico Ottawa
“It’s my turn to say goodbye to the red and white colors once again, this time in Canada, Ottawa,” said Del Campo, who once suited up for the Atletico Madrid reserves. “I would like to thank both the club and the coaching staff for the trust placed in me during these two seasons. Especially this last season where I have grown professionally and personally.”

The striker’s start with Ottleti was a slow one, with Del Campo failing to score in all sixteen of his matches last year. After ditching a potential ‘kit number curse’ and going from 99 to 19, however, this year’s campaign marked complete turnaround in form: Del Campo put forth eleven regular season goals, two cup goals, and one playoff goal for the red-and-white.
What will come after his contract with Atletico Ottawa expires at the end of the month remains unclear. The Freiburg-born striker has played throughout the Spanish lower divisions with several clubs and enjoyed a stint in the lower tier of Portugal, too.

“I will be eternally grateful,” concluded Del Campo. “At the same time, thank you Ottawa for giving me wonderful people and landscapes, for your cold and your extreme warmth. Thank you for being home during this period of time. Thank you Canada, thank you Ottawa, thank you Atletico Ottawa and ATM. From the heart.”
Atletico Ottawa remains without a head coach following the departure of Carlos Gonzalez, with nine players currently guaranteed for the 2025 CPL season.
