Atletico Ottawa To Introduce New COVID-19 Protocols
Fans who attend Atletico Ottawa matches taking place after September 12 will be required to provide proof of full vaccination status or a negative COVID-19 test in order to gain access to TD Place.
The announcement was made by OSEG this morning, just hours after Forge FC introduced its own safety policy update set to begin on September 6.
Atletico Ottawa plays a home match against the Halifax Wanderers one day before the policy kicks in, with its first home game under the new rules not taking place until September 25 in a match against York United.
The requirement of full dose vaccination status or a recent negative COVID-19 test is quickly becoming the industry standard, with MLSE announcing plans for such last week and the likes of the Toronto Blue Jays and Forge FC making similar announcements this morning.
Guests under the age of twelve will not be required to show a negative COVID-19 test, though it’s worth stating that mask mandates are expected to remain in effect. TD Place also made note that further information and updates will be provided in the weeks ahead.
The Ottawa-based Canadian Premier League side currently finds itself bottom of league standings after twelve games played, with the team losing out on its first-ever Canadian Championship match last weekend.
Despite the result, head coach Mista states that he saw his team show plenty of improvement on the ball and put on a ‘braver’ performance, though it’s clear the expansion side will need to making improvements heading into the second half of the season.
Fans in Ontario can access their digital COVID-19 vaccination receipts here.
