After CPL Stint, Jack Barrett Joins Blackburn Rovers
English goalkeeper Jack Barrett will be hoping to crack through the Blackburn Rovers ranks and make some stops in the English Championship.
The 22-year-old was recently part of the setup at Spruce Meadows, where he arrived on loan from Everton in the spring and remained until his contract with the Toffies ran out a few weeks ago.
Cavalry’s first choice goalkeeper Marco Carducci has always gobbled the majority of minutes between the sticks there, limiting Barrett’s game time in the CPL to a sole appearance. He helped the side draw 1-1 in a strong debut against Halifax.
Wheeldon Jr had described the youngster as smashing, saying he’d been great in preseason and training.

The six-foot-three goalkeeper initially went to Blackburn on trial, now signing a one-year deal with a club option for a further twelve months. The move is subject to approval from the relevant football authorities.
“When I knew that Blackburn Rovers were interested, I obviously knew how big of a football club it is and the history of the club, so I was delighted to be able to sign,” said Barrett on the move.

Barret had previously been part of the Everton’s academy system since he was nine, progressing up to the U-21 squad ranks and featuring three times in Premier League 2 action before his loan to Cavalry this spring.
The English Championship side is currently in Austria for preseason, allowing Jack a golden opportunity to get to his his teammates as the team feels out the beginnings of a new campaign.
“I just want to try and play as many games as I can, be in and around the first team and hopefully we can have a successful season,” adds the former CPL loanee.
He isn’t the only former Cavalry man contracted to a Championship side, with Aribim Pepple currently out on his third loan from Luton Town.
