Canada To Face Australia in Sinclair’s Final Team Canada Curtain Call
The matchup has been confirmed for the November/December international window.
On Monday a few days after it was reported the window was confirmed by Canada Soccer that Canada would face Australia in early December.
Bev Priestman feels this matchup will prove critical as the team continues to prepare to defend its gold medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
“Competing against a top opposition in Australia will be critical in our preparation ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics and of course, it will be an incredible occasion in Vancouver to celebrate Christine’s historic, decorated career in her hometown.”
The window will also be the last time we see Christine Sinclair suit up for Canada as she heads home to BC for a farewell tour of Vancouver and Victoria.
Canada will play the first game on Friday, December 1st in Langford, BC at Starlight Stadium while the second game is scheduled four days later on Tuesday, December 5th in Vancouver at BC Place.
Canada most recently faced Australia at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in their final group-stage match which they lost 4-0 in Melbourne, knocking them out of the tournament.
Before the World Cup Canada faced Australia twice and beat them in Sydney and Brisbane, winning 1-0 and 2-1 respectively in September 2022.
Canada is preparing this week to face Brazil on Saturday, October 28th in Montreal at Saputo Stadium and on Tuesday, October 31st in Halifax at Wanderers Ground.
