Zator Leaves Arka Gdynia, Enters Free Agency
Canadian defender Dominick Zator – one of the best to grace the Canadian Premier League – has bid farewell to Polish side Arka Gdynia.
The 31-year-old defender made 21 appearances for the Polish side as it fought to remain in the country’s top flight following its promotion, but Arka Gdynia was ultimately bounced back to the country’s second division.
“I want to thank my teammates, coaches, staff, and everyone behind the scenes for your support, trust, and the memories we shared,” said Zator online. “To the fans, thank you for your incredible passion and unwavering support. It was an honour to wear these colours and play in front of you.”

Zator’s move to Gdynia came following a strong two-and-a-half-year spell in the country’s top flight with Korona Kielce, where his big physical presence helped steer the club clear of relegation. In all, he made 65 appearances for the red-and-yellow, arriving just days following his own wedding in 2022.
Flashback: Zator Explains His Move To Poland
The defender, who also has Polish roots, had made the move to Europe in a bid to catch the attention of Jesse Marsch. Zator did crack Canada’s preliminary Gold Cup roster for 2025, having made three appearances for Les Rouges overall – the last coming in Canada’s 4-0 defeat against the Netherlands in ’24.

It’s unclear if a return to Canada’s top flight is on the cards for Zator, who tallied some 105 appearances between hometown side Cavalry FC and Inter Toronto (then York United). The six-foot-two defender imposed himself strongly in each league season, proving a sturdy and consistent option at the back and a dangerous man on set pieces going forward, too.
His last season in Canada saw him earn a defender of the year nomination before he opted to pursue his ambitions in Europe, with a previous loan stint with Vasalunds IF having only grown his hunger to test himself abroad.
All that is to say: it’d be easy to envision the veteran centre-back staying in Europe, but at there would be plenty of league-wide interest in bringing him back to Canadian soil, too.
