Let the Summer of Soccer in Canada begin!

Canada Soccer has now confirmed that the Canadian Women’s National Team will have a Send-Off Series against Mexico on home turf before beginning their Gold Medal Defense in Paris this July.

The two home matches will be played three days apart, with the first match being played on a Saturday, June 1 early afternoon in Toronto. The second match will then be played on Tuesday, June 4 in the evening in Montreal. This will be the first time Canada will play at BMO Field since their Olympic Qualifier against Jamaica last September, which is around the same timeframe as the last time they played in Montreal in a friendly against Brazil in late October.

This send-off series will begin what is now being called the ‘Summer of Soccer’ in Canada, with both the Men’s and the Women’s teams facing plenty of action in June and July. After this series for the Women, the Men will have their Copa America warm-up matches against the Netherlands and France before going into the Copa Group Stages, facing off against the likes of Argentina, Chile, and Peru.

Afterwards, attention will turn back to the Women as they look to defend their 2020 Olympic title in their opening Group Stage matches against the hosts, France as well as Colombia and New Zealand. Should both teams progress far in their respective competitions, Canadian soccer fans will have plenty of matches to cheer for into as late as early August.

And as we edge closer and closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this summer feels like a perfect warmup to the massive spectacle to come.
