TFC Hosts Forge FC In Second Leg Of Canadian Championship Semi-Finals
Toronto FC came back to action last weekend after nearly a month off following their Leagues Cup loss to Miami early this month. The Reds defeated the Houston Dynamo 1-0 after a sole goal from Prince Owusu gave TFC the full three points on the road.
Now, Toronto FC shifts focus back to the Canadian Championship semi-finals for a second leg affair against a CPL side. The first leg was played back in July, when reigning CPL champions Forge FC welcomed Toronto FC to Tim Hortons field before a very lengthy break in play while MLS sides focused on the Leagues Cup.
That first leg ended with the home side taking the win with the Hamilton side putting up a phenomenal performance winning 2-1. Forge FC outperformed Toronto FC with a cheeky half-field chip from Beni Badibanga and pretty early goal from Kwasi Poku in the style of backheel, having defeated MLS side CF Montreal in the prior round.

Toronto FC are headed into a tough match after what has been a very up and down season for the Reds. With an eager home crowd at BMO Field, the Reds and coach John Herdman will look to see a comeback to see them off to the final.
Toronto FC’s path to the semi-final stage saw them blast beyond semi-professional side Simcoe County Rovers in the preliminary round before facing Quebec’s semi-pro representative CS Saint-Laurent in the quarter-final.
Tonight’s match also comes in a stretch as the Reds will be playing three times in eight days. With the 1-0 over Houston Dynamo played already, they now face two back-to-back home games where they will host Forge tonight then host D.C. United on Saturday.
Will Forge FC advance beyond the semifinals, or will the eight-time tournament title holders continue their track record of success in the Canadian Championship and make it to yet another final? Catch the action tonight with kickoff set at 7:00PM EST
