CPL 2020 Away Kits Coming ‘Very, Very Soon’
Update: The Canadian Premier League confirmed a few hours later that the away kits for all eight clubs would be revealed at 2:00PM on July 30!
While all of the inaugural Canadian Premier League clubs revealed their home kits earlier this year (and expansion side Atletico Ottawa showing its inaugural home kit back in May), the due date of the league’s away kits hasn’t yet been revealed – but all that is set to change in the very near future.
A source within the league has now confirmed that fans will be able to set their eyes on the 2020 away kits in the very near future, with a full reveal expected to come as early as tomorrow, and a teaser due out as soon as this evening.
Earlier today, the Canadian Premier League announced today that its 2020 season will take place in Charlottetown from this August to September, with the shortened tournament being called ‘The Island Games‘. After each time plays eachother once, the top four teams will enter a second round robin playoff, with the top two teams then contesting for the North Star Shield over a single leg final.
As part of this announcement, the league revealed a national supporter’s group program entitled The Collective, inadvertently revealing that away kits were confirmed for the 2020 season. Given that the bottom four teams will have only played seven league matches in all, some teams won’t get much of an opportunity to show off their 2020 away kits in full.
With the season due to kick off in just fifteen days, things appear to be in overdrive at the Canadian Premier League head office: the season plans are now set in stone, the away kits are about to be revealed, and clubs are making a flurry of last-minute signings due to the unavailability of some international signings who aren’t able to enter Canada in time for the season.
While there’s no specific time for the away kit reveals as of yet, fans can expect news of the Canadian Premier League 2020 away kits to drop very shortly.
