Moses Dyer Set For Shock CPL Return

One of the Canadian Premier League’s most potent attackers is set for a shock return to the league.

Former Valour striker Moses Dyer will be a late reinforcement for one of the league’s eight teams, with the 26-year-old having previously tallied nineteen goals and seven assists through three seasons in Winnipeg.

He’ll return north of the border having completed one full season in the USL Championship with FC Tulsa, where he procured four goals in 29 matches. The New Zealand striker had re-signed with FC Tulsa at the start of the year, but things look to have shaken up following the subsequent exit of head coach Blair Gavin.

Dyer first arrived to the Canadian Premier League as a 21st Club-vetted international for the shortened Island Games season, tallying one goal in six appearances as a midfielder. The following season saw him transition to a centre-forward role, a bold decision that paid off in spades: he finished with nine goals on the season, six of which came in the final nine games of it.

The 2022 CPL season saw him match that number once again before he departed as Valour’s highest-ever goalscorer, making him a known quantity that we feel any Canadian Premier League side would welcome to their ranks. Despite having been present in only three of the league’s five seasons, he’s the CPL’s eighth-highest goalscorer of all time and lies just one more nine goal campaign from the pole position.

Prior to his chapter in Canada, the forward had played in Norway, Australia, and his native New Zealand, for whom he has also earned eleven caps with at the national team level.
