‘New Sporting Challenge’: Ronan Kratt Returns To Canada
Having enjoyed a great spell in Germany following his explosive stint in the Canadian Premier League, Ronan Kratt is heading back to his home country at his own request.
The winger racked up an incredible nine goals and thirteen assists during his time in Werder Bremen’s lower ranks, having played 17 matches with the U-23 side in Regionalliga Nord and 17 more in the Bremen League.
This season saw Kratt’s influence limited to five games due to a muscle injury.
“He wants to look for a new sporting challenge,” said Werder U-23 director Thomas Walter, who said the winger has played a big part in the Werder U-23 team’s return to the regional league.
“We would like to thank Ronan for his tireless efforts in the Werder jersey and wish him all the best for his sporting and personal future.”
While Kratt is set to return to Canada, he has not locked in his next club as of yet.

It was two years ago when Kratt’s midseason move to York United two years ago saw the Nine Stripes generate a big boost in form, with the winger scoring two goals in 14 appearances. He was then loaned to Werder Bremen before appearance numbers triggered his transfer there for an undisclosed fee.
The winger, who has previously cracked the Canada U-20 roster, first got his start with the SSV Ulm 1846 U-19 team, bagging a few goals for them en route to the WFV Pokal U-19 Cup Final.

At the start of the calendar year, Kratt’s Werder Bremen II team were so dominant they had sixteen wins and a goal differential of +100, with the club organizing some friendlies against tougher opposition than what they found in the league.
The 21-year-old is expected to attract serious interest in Canada’s top flight – or even perhaps MLS NEXT Pro – given his performances in the Werder Bremen development pipeline.
