With Cavalry FC already securing a playoff berth, the Canadian Premier League heavyweight side is further reinforcing its attack with the loan of CF Montreal prospect Owen Graham-Roache.

The 18-year-old is a promising talent with a strong boot, having already racked up 217 minutes of first-team action through 15 appearances with CF Montreal since making his professional debut last spring, following five years progressing through the CF Montréal Academy ranks.

The new Cavalry loanee has also featured with Canada at the U-20 level.

CF Montreal has confirmed that the deal includes a mutual option to extend the loan through to December 2027, so Tommy Wheeldon Jr. could have have the highly rated youngster at his disposal for considerably longer

“Owen is a top young talent, and he’s shown that recently with both CF Montréal and the Canada Men’s U-20 National Team,” said Tommy Wheeldon Jr., Head Coach & General Manager, Cavalry FC. “We’re appreciative that CF Montréal trusts us to help with the next part of his development. He’s a quick, dynamic forward with an eye for goal, and we believe he’ll add another dimension to our attacking depth as we enter the run-in.”

While CF Montreal is prepared to loan out Graham-Roache for potentially a full CPL season on top of the remainder of 2026, the club has simultaneously locked in the youngster to a sizeable contract extension that runs through the 2028-29 season with two option years. This extension will trigger in January 2027.

“Owen will have a great opportunity to continue his development with Cavalry,” says CF Montreal Managing Director Luca Saputo. “We wish him success during this loan spell and will be following his progress closely.”

Cavalry is making some big roster plays as the 2026 CPL season enters its end stages. The club just brought in former TFC2 winger Hassan Ayari last week, with the 23-year-old making his club debut in the playoff-clinching win over Pacific.

“They’re a club that is doing very well in the league right now and to be a part of a winning side will be helpful in my development as a player,” adds Graham-Roache.

The 18-year-old recruit could make his debut in an big six-pointer against second-place Forge FC on Saturday, September 19 – though Forge are reportedly close to a big signing of their own.
