The reigning Canadian Premier League regular season champions have unveiled their preseason training camp plans following the club’s earlier continental debut against Orlando City.

Cavalry has returned to Mexican soil for this year’s preseason camp, having gone abroad to train there ahead of the 2022 CPL season.

Mexico has been a popular country of choice for CPL clubs this year, with Forge, York United, and Atletico Ottawa all training in the country, the latter two of whom are still there.

Cavalry’s own Mexican camp will run for a ten day stretch between March 18-28 and will see the club take in a match against third division side Inter de Queretaro, Liga MX’s Queretaro FC, and second division club Celaya FC.

With the match against Queretaro FC taking place during the FIFA international window, it’s likely Cavalry could be facing the Liga MX side’s first team. Cavalry’s opening match against Inter de Queretaro will take place today.

Based on the team locations, it looks like Cavalry might be settled around Queretaro for the ten-day trip – the same location rival side Forge FC used.

Once those closed-door friendlies have wrapped two borders south, Cavalry will fly back to Calgary and will play one last preparation match against the Calgary Foothills before opening its trophy-defense season away to rival side Forge FC on April 13.
