Cavalry Roster Update: As Decisions Come In, Gutierrez Remains In Negotiations
Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC has confirmed a few ins-and-outs for the club’s 2026 roster.
The side has formally triggered its options on defender Eryk Kobza and midfielder Niko Myroniuk, keeping the duo at ATCO Field for at least another season.

Kobza, 24, has spent the last three seasons with the side and has made 79 appearances throughout. He made 25 appearances last year, including in the final, and sometimes steps forward into a defensive midfield role. His return was largely expected.

Calgary native Niko Myroniuk is a youth prospect coming off the back of a fairly breakthrough season, having made 29 appearances largely off the bench last year. At just 20 years of age, the left midfielder still has a high ceiling ahead of him after first joining the side in ‘22.

However, the side has declined its options on Tom Field and forward Ayman Sellouf, while also declining Diego Gutierrez’s club option amidst negotiations for a new contract.
Irish left-back Tom Field has spent several seasons with the club split in two spells amidst some injury concerns, with the 28-year-old now once again falling out of contract with the CPL heavyweights. The former Brentford man has tallied 59 appearances for the club during his Alberta chapters, but now looks set to officially move on.

Dutch forward Ayman Sellouf arrived with high expectations this summer, particularly with Sellouf having been a potent ingredient for Pacific before a quieter spell with Vancouver FC.
Sellouf was even quieter in Calgary, seeing sixteen appearances come and go without net goal contributions. The club had options for 2026 and 2027, but his time at ATCO Field officially ends after half a season.

Diego Gutierrez, 28, has been an important midfield cog for the side. The former Valour man is just shy of 50 appearances over the last two seasons, and we’re told Cavalry is tabling him an improved offer over what his club option would have been.
The club just brought in star goalkeeper Nathan Ingham last week, who arrives as a high-pedigree replacement for Halifax-bound Marco Carducci.
