CF Montreal Looks To Continue Winning Streak Ahead Of 401 Derby Rematch

On Saturday CF Montreal and TFC will meet again after their last meeting on Tuesday.

CF Montreal is on a trajectory to repeat what it did last season after a rough start to the season and managing to turn it around and now they are looking for their fifth straight win.

On the other side of the pitch, you have a TFC team struggling and will be missing eight players who are all out with injuries that have decimated the lineup.

Unfortunately, Tuesday’s win at BMO Field was overshadowed when TFC fans jumped CF Montreal fans in the visitor’s section and the visitor’s section tonight in Montreal will be closed to TFC Fans.

CF Montreal manager Hernan Losada doesn’t want to make any dramatic changes and wants to keep going with what has been working for them.

“We made so much progress the last couple of weeks that slowly everyone is really starting to understand when to play forward when to keep the ball when to press,” said Losada. “Those kinds of things we want to keep on doing, we don’t want to change it.”

CF Montreal defender George Campbell who has recently returned to the team after getting injured in training camp believes they have what it takes once again to stop the likes of Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernadeschi.

“We didn’t give them a lot of chances to counterattack and run at us one on one,” said Campbell. “We know they have qualities on the wing and good players, but I think if you play as a team and we move together, then there’s only so much you can do.”

Campbell will most likely get the start on Saturday evening at Saputo Stadium in place of Joel Waterman due to his one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation.

Saturday actually marks the 30th year anniversary of the CF Montreal team coming to life and fans have been asked to come to Saputo Stadium in their old Montreal Impact jerseys.

There will also be a brief ceremony at the 30th minute and many alumni players will be in attendance for the occasion.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm and can be seen on Apple MLS Season Pass.
