CPL Midfielder Marcello Polisi Makes Move To Detroit
USL Championship side Detroit City FC looked north of the border to reinforce its midfield contigent.
Midfielder Marcello Polisi has signed with Detroit City FC following four seasons in the Canadian Premier League, where he made 58 appearances split between the Halifax Wanderers and Valour FC.
He now inks a two-year deal with the USL Championship side. The physical defensive midfielder was on an expired contract with Valour, so his move stateside comes as a free transfer.
He will join another former Wanderer in Morey Doner in Detroit, with former Toronto FC icon Danny Dichio coaching the duo. Dichio led the team to playoffs this year and will be keen to repeat the feat come 2025.

Born in Coquitlam, BC, Polisi developed with the Whitecaps Academy before joining testing himself in NCAA action with Simon Fraser University. The physical midfielder had featured for Canada at the U-15 level, and had also accrued some playing experience with the TSS Rovers before turning professional in 2021.
His two seasons in Halifax saw him tally 36 appearances under Stephen Hart before his move to Winnipeg netted him 22 appearances last season, though he spent this year on the sidelines through injury.
This move reunites him with Detroit City FC assistant coach Nick Dasovic.
