Lithuanian Side Lands David Brazao
Two months after midfielder David Brazao was released by Pacific FC, the Portugese player has landed with Lithuanian top flight side FC Dziugas.
Brazao, 22, had found minutes hard to come by under James Merriman following his arrival last year. Still, the Portuguese midfielder tallied two goals and two assists after fourteen appearances, none of which came in the form of a full ninety minutes.
He had looked an intriguing pickup for Pacific when he arrived from Portuguese third division, having tallied six goals, three assists, and multiple team of the week nods while there there with SU Sintrense. He also boasted an interesting pedigree, with his youth career seeing him develop through clubs like Sporting CP, Benfica, CF Belenenses, Estoril, and Mafra.
His new side will be hoping for a much better 2024 season, having finished second-last in 2023. FC Dziugas stated that the club hopes he can settle in quickly and integrate with the team, who just added a new head coach ten days ago.
Brazao found himself released at the end of the 2023 CPL season alongside Keiran Baskett and Abdul Binate, neither of whom were able generate many appearances either.
Pacific is keeping quiet about the club’s inbound additions amid the hefty departures of Manny Aparicio and Amer Didic. Beyond some returning players, the club hasn’t formally announced any new additions – though we’ve heard that Trinidad and Tobago striker Reon Moore is set for Starlight Stadium.
The contract details for Brazao’s free transfer to FC Dziugas were not disclosed by the Lithuanian side.
