FC Supra Taps Maherpour For Assistant Coach Post

The dynamic duo is sticking together.

FC Supra head coach Nick Razzaghi will have a familiar face alongside him in the technical area next year, with Ramtin Maherpour – who had assisted Razzaghi during his spell with CS Saint-Laurent – remaining his assistant as the pair enter the professional footballing space.

“His vision and approach align perfectly with our philosophy of continuing to advance Quebec soccer alongside Nick,” reads a brief statement from the club.

Maherpour was with the CS Saint-Laurent side that dispatched the Halifax Wanderers in a David-Versus-Goliath cup match back in 2024, a moment that came after CS Saint-Laurent had secured a double in Ligue1 Quebec action the year before.

It’s a moment in time that somewhat mirrors former Halifax Wanderers head coach Patrice Gheisar’s own journey: having bested the Wanderers with a semi-pro team, he eventually paved his way to CPL and brought his assistant from the semi-pro days with him, too.

The Quebecois expansion side is banking its foundation heavily on building blocks from CS Saint-Laurent, with Club President Rocco Placentino having been the side’s sporting director and Mateo Cabanettes having founded the Ligue1 Quebec side itself.

FC Supra is aiming to set a hefty benchmark in Quebecois representation: they want to field a team completely comprised of talent hailing from La Belle Province, though this may include international players who have spent the last few years there, too.

“The project is exciting because of the fact that we have the chance to promote many of our talents from here in Quebec,” says Maherpour. “The reality is that we have a pool that is extremely strong with great potential, and it always feels good to have another team in the province be able to really give this platform to our players.”

Evidently, that mentality is being built from the ground-up, with the leadership team and technical staff also falling into the Quebecois bracket.

FC Supra will kick off in the 2026 Canadian Premier League season, which will the league’s eighth overall. Despite being a national league, this will be the first time Quebec will be represented formally at the club level – and, says Placentino, this will show the nation who Quebec really is.
