Ferrin Flies Home, Signs With York United

As we reported last month, York United has been eyeing Massimo Ferrin – and the club has just locked in the forward from the Halifax Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old winger has proven a solid addition out east, averaging nearly one goal contribution every two games. In all, he’s tallied 15 goals and 9 assists during his time with Halifax, which saw him make 55 appearances across all competitions.

He now arrives to York United on a one-year deal with a club option for 2026.

His two seasons out east came after we listed him as someone who could make the jump to CPL heights, with the winger following head coach Patrice Gheisar out east after playing for him in League1 Ontario. As reported by Wanderers Notebook, York United had been interested in the attack at the time.

In his last season with Vaughan, he’d racked up 23 goals in 15 regular season games (good for 1.53 goals per game) before adding another one en route to winning both the Golden Boot and the League1 Ontario Championship.

Ferrin’s time out east wasn’t his first foray into professional football, with the forward having made 21 appearances for USL Championship Loudoun United back in 2020. He also featured in a friendly for DC United, bagging the game’s only goal in a one-nil victory over El Salvadoran side Alianza FC.

York United is banking heavily on local talent as the 2025 CPL season approaches, having also added locals like Adonijah Reid, Luke Singh, Steffen Yeates, Cameron DaSilva, and former Wanderer Riley Ferazzo.
