Forge Secures Short-Term Backup GK With Rimi Olatunji
Forge FC are adding their second short-term goalkeeper in just as many days, bringing in former TFC Academy goalkeeper Oluwarimildalare ‘Rimi’ Olatunji on a short-term deal.
The six-foot Brampton native move recently plied his trade with USL League Two club Peoria City FC, having also made some 19 appearances for the Providence University Friars over three seasons – that’s where he teamed up with another recent arrival in Malcolm Dunstan.
Olatunji’s arrival looks to be a fill-in for Christopher Kalongo, who was absent during the club’s three-nil Canadian Championship victory over FC Laval. Replacing him on the bench was 15-year-old Sigma FC youngster Emmanuel Marmolejo, though the club understandably wants an older shot-stopper to fill-in behind Henry whilst Kalongo is sidelined.
The Brampton-born goalkeeper had spent time with the TFC Academy prior to moving stateside, and is expected to secure a spot on the bench behind Triston Henry when Forge hosts the Halifax Wanderers this Saturday.
The three-time CPL champions did not disclose the actual length of Olatunji’s short-term deal.
