CF Monterrey’s loan pipeline to the Canadian Premier League has seen a third player land in Canada’s top flight this season, with Forge FC now confirming the loan of defender Daniel Parra for the 2024 CPL season.

The 24-year-old left-back has spent the last seasons with the Liga MX side after progressing their academy ranks, making no less than 72 appearances up to the U-20 level.

His transition to first team minutes has seen him make no less than 38 appearances for the CF Monterrey senior team, landing the defender medals through the club’s successful Liga MX, Concacaf Champions Cup, and Copa MX title runs.

Parra got senior minutes aplenty with second division side Atletico Morelia last year, procuring four goals in 21 league appearances. He’s also had prior loan spells with Necaxa and Raya 2.

“We are excited to welcome Daniel Parra to Forge FC,” says Forge head coach and sporting director Bobby Smyrniotis. “He will not only strengthen our backline but also brings invaluable experience as we look to win another Canadian Premier League title and earn a place in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.”

He won’t be the only CF Monterrey loanee in the Canadian Premier League this year, with rival side York United taking in Rayados U-23 prospects Orlando Botello and Josue Martinez on loan for the upcoming season.
