Halifax Tides Sign Dalhousie Captain Megan Chiasson
Northern Super League side Halifax Tides are adding a Dalhousie University standout for the remainder of the season.
The club has confirmed the signing of 24-year-old versatile midfielder-defender Megan Chiasson, who now completes the dream of turning professional with her hometown club.
The Nova Scotia native will be familiar name for those who follow the collegiate circuit: she’s been a mainstay in the Atlantic University Sport world with the Dalhousie Tigers, earning first-team honours in 2022, 2023, and 2025 following her Rookie of the Year debut in 2021.
The Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia native captained the side and played in almost every possible minute of her collegiate career, making 59 appearances for the Dalhousie Tigers since 2021 and even adding six goals and one assist through that time.
She also laid claim to the inaugural Crestpoint Scholarship for the Tigers last year, who also hailed her as the Women’s Team Soccer MVP twice. Having excelled both on the pitch and off in the university circuit, the five-foot-two athlete will now take a crack at the pro level.
“I am so excited to be joining the Halifax Tides,” says Chiasson. “The opportunity to play professionally in Halifax, in front of my family, friends, and the community that means so much to me, is truly a dream come true.”
Chaisson developed through Western Halifax FC and is described as a composed and strong figure that was one of the most consistent to be found in the AUS ranks.
Fans might not have long to wait in order to see Chiasson, who is available for selection immediately. The Tides are on the road this Saturday, September 5 to face the Vancouver Rise.
