Halifax Wanderers Near Sell-Out For Playoff Match…Without Knowing Opponent
It’s safe to say the east coast is hungry for playoff football.
The Halifax Wanderers are guaranteed to host at least one playoff match after besting three-time league champions Forge FC last week, with the club set to close out the regular season away to Valour this weekend.
Whatever happens in that match, their ticket to the promised land of playoff football is already booked, so they’ve locked in a playoff game right in Haligonian territory.
While the date, time, and opponent of the club’s playoff match is still to be determined, less than 300 tickets remain for the history-making match. Tickets went on sale earlier today, with Club President Derek Martin confirming that they’re selling at a blistering pace.
The playoff match is expected to sell out, and that’s par for the course with the Halifax Wanderers: the club has proven to be quite a draw in the city it calls home, with the club hoping to work with the city regarding a permanent stadium solution by 2025.
The east coast side had only ever reached the postseason during 2020’s shortened pandemic season, which was played as a closed bubble tournament in Charlottetown.
That means that the pop-up stadium at Wanderers Grounds has been there since 2019 without any playoff action, but that’s all set to change later this month.
Interested fans can pick up their tickets here while they’re still available.
