Looking at the statistics for this game, it’s hard to believe it ended goalless: Colorado Keeper William Yarbrough created a new club record of clean sheets which may have gone some way to reflect the result.
The Vancouver Whitecaps started the game with their usual rapid attacks, but to no avail despite pressure on the Rapids goal from Brian White.
It wasn’t all one-way traffic, with Barrios, Rubio and Rosenberry all shooting wide. The Rapids looked to have gone ahead in the second-half when Danny Wilson toed the ball over the line, but Lalas Abubakar was adjudged to have fouled Whitecaps Keeper Yohei Takaoka.
In minute 78, Whitecaps keeper Takaoka become the hero of the game, saving Diego Rubio’s penalty after Javain Brown’s clumsy challenge brought down Jonathan Lewis in the box.
A point each helps neither team, as they both languish in the bottom half of the Western Conference.
