Campagna Next CPL Recruit For JK Narva Trans
Canadian defender Cristian Campagna may not be in Halifax anymore, but he truly is a Wanderer.
The 23-year-old has joined Estonian side JK Narva Trans for the upcoming season. If that name sounds familiar, that’s where former Eddies defender Kelsey Egwu moved just last year.
Campagna’s Canadian Premier League stint with Halifax took place during the 2022 CPL season, with the former Whitecaps FC 2 captain joining the side as a midseason replacement for Mateo Restrepo. He featured as a starter for seven straight appearances to close out the regular season, but his sophomore season saw his appearances dwindle under Patrice Gheisar, and his club option for 2024 was passed over.

Following his time in Canada’s top flight, the Vancouver-born defender trialed in Germany before landing with Finnish third division side FC Jazz, featuring in most of the club’s matches and even captaining the side for his final appearance, a 2-4 win over FC Vaajakoski.
Now set for a new adventure in Estonia – where York United’s newest defensive signing Alexander Bergman came in from – it’ll be interesting to see how the defender fairs. Campagna already his new team record a clean sheet in a friendly against Kaliju, but will be hoping they can attain more than the mid-table finish seen last year.
