Former Eddies Defender Egwu Signs With JK Narva Trans

Just a few weeks after we reported that former FC Edmonton defender Kelsey Egwu was trailing with Estonian top flight side JK Narva Trans, the 20-year-old has now accepted a contract offer from the side.

The Toronto-born full-back has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with a club option for 2026, with Canadian defender Ryan Lindsay reportedly helping the move take shape with his former club.

Egwu had spent the last season with League1 Ontario’s FC London, where he featured in every possible game under head coach Yiannis Tsalatsidis. After the season wrapped, he trained with MLS NEXT Pro side Toronto FC II and even rode the bench for the side in their season closer against Crown Legacy FC.

Kelsey’s first professional appearance came through FC Edmonton two years ago, with the young defender making his debut as a starter against a Pacific FC that fielded star players like Manny Aparicio, Marco Bustos, and a golden boot-bound Alejandro Diaz. While the Eddies lost out 2-1, Egwu played all ninety minutes in the match and made a solid account for himself.

JK Narva Trans rest in Estonia’s top flight, but are certainly in need of some shoring up at the back after only narrowing avoiding relegation last year. Egwu was an unused substitute in the Estonian side’s Estonian Supercup loss to Flora today, so he’s still yet to make his debut in his new surroundings.

The six-foot-four defender looked sharp in the club’s preseason matches prior, however, with Egwu completing 180 minutes of action with the club winning both games.

Egwu isn’t the only FC London baller to return to professional heights after spending last season with the side, with former FC Edmonton goalkeeper Darlington Murasiranwa now back in the Canadian pro tanks with Valour FC.

launch himself back into the pro ranks, signing a pro deal with Valour FC back in August.
