We are just two-and-a-half months away from a return to pro-am football in British Columbia.

Earlier today, League1 BC released the full schedule for the 2023 season. This comes two weeks after the league published the important details of the season.

Like last year, all games will operate as double-headers with the men’s and women’s matches taking place one after the other.

The opening game will take place on April 29, with defending men’s champions TSS Rovers hosting the newly-rebranded Nautsa’mawt FC, formerly known as Varsity FC. The Rovers will actually play their first match of the year ten days prior, hosting professional side Valour FC in the Canadian Championship.

The league’s first expansion side, Harbourside FC, will get their inaugural L1 BC campaign underway at home to Unity FC.

The next day, another double-header will complete the opening weekend. Whitecaps FC/NDC BC will host the Victoria Highlanders. NDC won the women’s division last year over Varsity.

The opening round will finish with Altitude FC heading to Kamloomps to face Rivers FC.

The 112-game regular season will primarily take place on Fridays and weekends. Only ten games, five in each division, will occur on other days of the week with one on a Monday and the other four on Wednesdays.

The regular season will wrap up on Sunday, July 23 with three games: Harbourside will host Altitude, the Whitecaps/NDC will be away to Rivers, and the Victoria Highlanders will welcome TSS Rovers.

Regarding the new playoff format, the top four in each division will reach the postseason stage. Those four games will take place on July 28 and 29.

The final will be the following weekend, tying in with the BC Day celebrations.

The regular season winner on the men’s side will qualify for the 2024 Canadian Championship. As for the women’s division, that team will take part in the 2023 Women’s Canada Inter-Provincial Championship to be played sometime in August. While it has been confirmed that it will take place in BC, the league will get an extra berth. No word yet on who will get the league’s other spot in the four-team tournament.
