League1 Canada Women’s Review: Week 16
By With the League1 Canada Interprovincial Championship a couple of weeks away, we really are at the end of the 2025 season. This past week was the last time that all four provinces had matches in their respective leagues.

League1 BC: Top Four Finish Off Season With Wins
The final weekend of the League1 BC was a dead rubber, since we already knew the champion. Still, eight clubs took the pitch, seven for the final time. Friday night had two games, as TSS Rovers edged Kamloops United 1-0, and champions Altitude got past Burnaby FC 2-0.
On Saturday, Bianca Patik scored twice for Vancouver Rise Academy in their 5-1 comeback win over Langley United. Olivia Zeitler also managed to grab a brace as part of Unity’s last match, as they defeated Nanaimo United 4-1 at home.
This is how the final table looks in League1 BC, as Altitude finished six points clear of the Rise Academy, and 12 points ahead of Unity. Langley United and Evolution’s first campaigns saw them end fifth and sixth, respectively.
Altitude will head to Alberta for the League1 Canada Interprovincial Championship. After last weekend’s draw, they already know they will be facing the League1 Ontario champion, which is still to be determined.
League1 Alberta: Blizzard’s League to Lose
There was a massive turn in the title race in League1 Alberta last Friday, as three games took place. All three visiting teams came out on top in their matches. Two goals in either half was enough for Callies United to top Edmonton Scottish 4-1.
Things took a turn for the worse for Calgary Foothills, as they surrendered their lead in the space of 10 second half minutes to fall to a 2-1 home defeat against St. Albert Impact. Kayla Mostowich and Adalyn Fairweather’s goals could prove to be decisive over the next week.
As for Calgary Blizzard, they got the job done in a 3-1 success at BTB Academy. Bryn Mortensen’s double – one in each half – paved the way for her side to claim a massive three points and close in on the title.
The Foothills’ third loss of the season sees them drop to second spot with a game to go. It allowed the Blizzard to go top, and now is a win away from defending their title. BTB and the Tartans’ seasons come to an end after last week’s matches.
Tuesday will see the Foothills try to keep the title race going for a few more days as they host the Calgary Rangers. Fail to win that, and the Blizzard will enjoy another title. A Foothills win will force a decider on Friday, as the Blizzard has the Calgary Villains on the road. In that case, three points would be required, otherwise they relinquish top spot. Friday’s other game sees St. Albert face Callies United.
League1 Ontario: Titles in All Three Divisions Still Up for Grabs
Predicting who will win the three tiers across League1 Ontario is still quite the challenge. At least three teams in each of the divisions are in contention heading into the final week of play. Also to take place next week is the L1 Cup final, between North Toronto Nitros and Alliance United. That goes Wednesday night.
Here is a look back at the drama from last week’s action in Ontario.
League1 Ontario Premier: Trio Still Dreaming of Title
We will go to the final weekend with three teams still in contention to win the Premier Division in Ontario. Last week’s drama started on Wednesday, as Guelph United prevailed 1-0 over Alliance United thanks to Zoe Rowe’s marker just before the break.
North Toronto Nitros then held on for a 2-1 victory at Waterloo United on Friday. The guests did their damage in the opening quarter of the game, but just managed to stick it out, as Waterloo scored a stoppage time goal to make things interesting.
Another two Ally Rowe goals helped Simcoe County Rovers get past North Mississauga 4-0 on the road on Saturday. Despite playing most of the second half down a player, FC London came away with a huge 2-1 win versus Woodbridge Strikers. As for NDC Ontario, they completed the week with a 3-0 success over Vaughan Azzurri on Sunday.
Six of the 10 teams in the Premier Division will still have something to play for next weekend. The result is an action-packed two days, where anything can happen. No changes occurred at the top, with Simcoe County Rovers still owning their destiny. The notable change came at the bottom, where FC London’s win saw them jump into ninth place.
There are six more games left in the top flight for the 2025 season. Simcoe will have their game in hand on Wednesday versus Waterloo United. Win that, and they go into the final day with the lead. North Toronto faces Alliance on Friday night in a colossal game for both. Simcoe then plays Vaughan on Saturday, while North Mississauga has Woodbridge, and NDC takes on FC London. Monday will have the final game, between Guelph and Waterloo.
League1 Ontario Championship: Scrosoppi Edges Ahead
Like the top tier, Ontario’s Championship Division is showing no signs of slowing down at the end of the season. Friday saw Scrosoppi get past Burlington SC 2-1, thanks to Jahkaya Davis and Destiny Omari’s goals just before the interval. Sienna Caesar’s marker shortly after the restart turned out to be a consolation at best for the home side.
Whiby FC topped Tecumseh 3-0 in one of Saturday’s two matches. Sophia Saville completed a hattrick to give her side the victory. Meanwhile, Rush Canada ended their 2025 campaign with a goalless draw at Hamilton United Elite. As for Oakville SC, they played spoilers in their 3-1 defeat of Pickering FC on Sunday.
Despite dropping two points on Saturday, everything remains in Hamilton’s hands. They have an extra game over Scrosoppi, Pickering, and Whitby. Win that game in hand, and the latter two will no longer be in contention for the title.
All five remaining games have something on the line. Hamilton welcomes Oakville on Wednesday to kick things off. Then, they host Unionville Milliken on Saturday. Win both, and the title, as well as promotion, are theirs. Falter at any point, and that is where Sunday comes into play.
Burlington will try to deny Whitby a top two finish in their game, while Oakville takes on Tecumseh. The latter has a small chance at second spot, but will need a win. Pickering and Scrosoppi is the key game to cap off the year, where one of them could become champion should Hamilton fail to win both games. Even if the title is decided by then, second spot could belong to one of the two.
League2 Ontario: Waterloo B Wins Southwest
There were just seven games in League2 Ontario’s final full week of the regular season, due in large part to a couple of postponements. The Southwest Conference clash from Saturday saw Waterloo B defeat Cambridge United 5-3 in a crazy game. A pair of stoppage time goals minutes apart from the hosts were enough to see them over the line. Before that, Rush Canada B and Guelph B drew 0-0 on Thursday.
The Northeast Conference had five matches take place. Wednesday saw Pickering B prevail 3-0 at Scrosoppi B, and Whitby B defeat Simcoe B 4-1. Pickering B then saw the field again on Friday in a 1-0 victory over Master’s FA.
Vaughan B completed their year with a solid 4-1 win on Saturday against Sudbury Cyclones. The week was completed with Master’s FA edging Unionville B 1-0 thanks to a Mariana Matos goal nine minutes into the second half. That gave the visitors their first win of the year.
Waterloo B claimed the Southwest Conference at the death, pushing Railway City into second spot. Nevertheless, they claim the playoff spots there. Joining them will be Woodbridge B and Alliance B from the Northeast Conference.
Both semifinals will kick off on Tuesday night. Waterloo B welcomes Alliance B in the first game, before Woodbridge B battles Railway City in the second semi. The final will occur on Sunday at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
Finally, it is worth noting that not all 22 sides in the league have played their full complement of regular season games. At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation as to whether the four remaining regular season matches will occur.
Ligue1 Quebec: Regular Season Finale Serves Up Drama
The last week of the regular season in Quebec occurred in both divisions, providing plenty of incredible play. Now that the dust has settled, the playoff places, as well as a champion, have been determined. Here is how things went in Quebec’s leagues.
Ligue1 Quebec: FC Laval, CSMRO and Beauport Claim Final Playoff Spots
There was no shortage of drama in Quebec’s top division. Group A’s two matches took place on Saturday. At Parc Roseval, hosts FC Laval prevailed 1-0 over CS Longueuil. Jeanne Even scored the winner off a corner in the 90th minute.
It then came down to CS Mont-Royal Outremont to see whether they could keep their title defence alive. In the end, a pair of first half goals were enough for them to defeat AS Laval 2-0 at home and clinch the other playoff place in the group.
The important match in Group B saw Elsa Lessard score a 94th minute winner as Royal Select Beauport edged AS Chaudiere-Ouest 2-1. Academie CF Montreal, who had a match with no significance, drew 0-0 with Ottawa South United.
FC Laval managed to hold onto top spot in Group A, with their late goal making the difference there. Longueuil misses out with their loss, coupled with CSMRO’s victory. As for Group B, that 94th minute winner saw Beauport pip Celtix du Haut-Richelieu for the second playoff place in the group.
The semifinals will take place in midweek. Academie CF Montreal kicks things off on Tuesday night as they battle CSMRO in a repeat of last year’s final, which the latter won. Wednesday pits together FC Laval and Beauport. The winners will face off in Sunday’s final in Laval.
Ligue2 Quebec: Lakeshore Pips Trident to the Title
The title race came down to the final day in Ligue2, as two sides had a shot at coming out on top. Before Sunday’s drama, CS Roussillon was involved in their final three games. They won 3-1 at FC Anjou on Tuesday, fell 2-0 at AS Brossard on Thursday, and then lost again – this time 2-1 to CS Fury de Rimouski – on Saturday. The other midweek game ended 1-1 on Wednesday between CS Du Bas-Richelieu and CS Boucherville.
That led us to Sunday, which kicked off with a CS Du Bas-Richelieu 5-2 success at CF L’International de Quebec. Lakeshore SC, who had led the league for much of the year, found a 92nd minute winner from Taida An to defeat AS Brossard 2-1 on the road. This meant that despite CS Trident’s 2-0 success at CS St-Laurent – with a goal coming in each half – it was not enough for them to win the title.
CS Lanaudiere-Nord drew 2-2 with AS Gatineau in one of the other games. Leanne Rivest twice gave the hosts the lead, only for Anne-Frederique Chiasson to level on both occasions. Union Lanaudiere-Sud and Revolution FC drew 0-0 in their game. CS LaSalle topped CS Trois-Rivieres 6-0 in their clash, a scoreline that CS Levis-Est also prevailed by versus Phenix des Rivieres.
Lakeshore held on for top honours, becoming Ligue2 Quebec’s first-ever champions. They also get to enjoy promotion to the top flight for next season. Trident will be involved in a four-team playoff to decide the 12th and final Ligue1 Quebec team for next year. Union Lanaudiere-Sud’s draw with Revolution was enough for them to remain in the league as they, as well as the seven teams who finished below them, all will be relegated.
Wednesday will see the semifinals for the promotion playoffs. Brossard faces Trois-Rivieres, while Trident meets St-Laurent for the second time in a matter of days. Sunday will have the final in Laval.
