CPL Original Noah Verhoeven Signs With Makedonikos
After spending the last seven years in Canada’s top flight, Surrey-born midfielder Noah Verhoeven will now test himself in Europe.
The 26-year-old has signed on with Greek second division side Makedonikos, who is approaching the business end of the season with a dire six points in sixteen matches played and certainly needs some midfield inspiration.
Verhoeven spent the last three seasons contracted to reigning CPL champions Atletico Ottawa, though after featuring 27 appearances in his first season after arriving from York United he spent the subsequent season on loan to Valour before featuring for Ottleti just six times through its title-winning 2025 campaign.

Verhoeven had been much more utilized during his spell with the Nine Stripes before that, racking up 56 appearances and five assists under head coaches Jim Brennan and Martin Nash. Having spent two seasons with Pacific prior, Verhoeven has donned a variety of midfield roles but has experienced varying levels of success season-to-season.
During his time with Pacific, for instance, he did well enough to join the Canadian national team for a training camp ahead of the Gold Cup. He made 30 appearances for during his two-year spell with the Tridents, having previously plied his trade with USL side Fresnco FC.
Makedonikos has proven to be a European harbour for Canadian Premier League lately, with Mikael Cantave and Daniel Morer both joining the side last year.
Verhoeven isn’t the only Canadian player to move to Makedonikos this week, with Toronto-born defender Tristan Marshall – a Saint Vincent and the Grenadines international and Scrosoppi FC defender – also testing his mettle in Greek’s second division.
Interestingly, both Verhoeven and Marshall played against eachother earlier this year in the opening round of the Canadian Championship.
