Pacific FC Re-Signs Wirth, MacNaughton
New Pacific FC head coach Pa-Modou Kah revealed that the CPL side sees the duo as key pieces to its roster, suggesting that both are part of the side’s long-term plans.
We see Nolan and Lukas as being a huge part of this club, so hopefully they come into the second year and are even better than the first year. I’ve been looking forward to working with them and creating good relationships.Pa-Modou Kah
Nolan Wirth was always expected to re-sign after the club parted ways with Mark Village earlier this offseason. Wirth had to wait until the last game of the spring season to make his league debut for the club, going on to feature 13 times for The Tridents across all competitions. The club has stated that he will be the side’s starting goalkeeper for the 2020 Canadian Premier League season.
At the moment, it is not known who will be the second choice shotstopper for the west coast club.
The other re-signing, Lukas MacNaughton, made 22 appearances for Pacific FC across all competitions after a 2018 season that saw him make eight League1 Ontario appearances for Alliance United. The 24-year-old centre-back scored two goals for Pacific FC.
Pacific FC has now confirmed ten returning players for the 2020 Canadian Premier League season, including several of its youngsters along with veteran left-back Marcel de Jong, who missed most of the inaugural campaign after suffering an Achilles injury during preseason.
The club has teased that it has signed a brand new player with ‘potential captain material‘, though it isn’t known who was brought in – or if any of the club’s new signings will arrive courtesy of the league-wide scouting partnership with 21st Club.
The contract lengths and financial compensation due to the players was not disclosed by Pacific FC.
