Pacific FC has signed one of the most proven goalscorer in Canadian Premier League history.

The Vancouver Isle club has announced the sizeable addition of Easton Ongaro, who tallied 25 goals in 57 appearances (0.43 per game) through three years with FC Edmonton, a club which – to put it kindly – didn’t always offer him a lot of service.

He then embarked on brief stint abroad with Romanian top flight side UTA Arad before spending the rest of this year with the Whitecaps 2, scoring three goals in seven appearances and earning a call-up to the first team back in August.

Now, his return to the Canadian Premier League through a multi-year deal with Pacific FC will turn heads aplenty.

“Easton is incredibly motivated to win games for Pacific and hungry to progress, to push himself towards the next level,” said PFC head coach James Merriman. “We look forward to working with him and supporting his development.”

Suffice to say, it’s a massive signing for a team which struggled to replace the shooting boots left by Alejandro Diaz when the Mexican was sold midseason for a club record transfer to Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball.

“The way this past year has gone with me bouncing around, it was really an attractive option where I could just go there, have some security, have an opportunity to really prove myself again and play a lot of games and be that number nine that I want to be,” Ongaro told Kristian Jack in a pre-launch news piece. “They are a great team, in a great city, and from the outside looking in they do things right. They play the kind of football I want to be a part of. I’m just excited to go there and be a part of it.”

Pacific FC has already confirmed the return of attackers Josh Heard and Djenairo Daniels, with English striker Jordan Brown‘s contract still good for another season, too. While Marco Bustos trialed with Toronto FC, it remains to be seen if the Pacific talisman will loop back to Langford.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Manny Aparicio will stay, with the midfielder now in the ending month of his current contract out west.

For today, Pacific FC will be celebrating the acquisition of one of the league’s most proven goalscorers who is sure to make a difference to their title hopes coming in to 2023.
