Pacific Confirms Kekuta Manneh’s Departure

It’s been long-suspected that MLS veteran Kekuta Manneh wouldn’t be returning to the Isle this year, with Pacific FC now confirming the release of the 29-year-old Gambian.

The winger had made 23 appearances for Pacific throughout all competitions, tallying two goals and two assists split evenly between league and cup play. Unable to carve out big minutes, however, he’s now left the Tridents to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere.

There had been high hopes for Manneh, who had previously enjoyed five fruitful seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps between 2013 and 2017. He’s had a solid spell in Major League Soccer overall (and the MLS in general, contributing 31 goals in 171 regular season appearances within the league).

Manneh has landed at a different club essentially every season since leaving the Whitecaps, with stints at Columbus Crew, Pachuca, St. Gallen, FC Cincinnati, New England Revolution, Austin FC, San Antonio FC, and now Pacific FC.

He becomes the second Pacific player to mutually terminate a contract ahead of the 2024 CPL season, with Bradley Vliet doing so to join UAE side Arabian Falcons FC. Having lost out on star players Manny Aparicio and Amer Didic, the club has looked abroad to bring in new, high-hopes talent like Aly Ndom, Andrei Tircoveanu, and Reon Moore.
