Pacific Activates Dada-Luke Option
Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC has just confirmed its activation of right-back Kunle Dada-Luke’s option for 2024, keeping the defender on the Isle for a fourth consecutive season.
The 23-year-old has been an electric presence on the club’s right flank, where his trademark bandana has flowed in the wind as he darts up and down his stretch of the pitch.
Dada-Luke won a league title with the club during his first season out west, where he arrived as a relatively unknown prospect at right-back after missing The Island Games for Atletico Ottawa.
He’s been good for 85 appearances in the time since, with 32 of them coming last season – including two in the playoffs before his season ended with a suspension after some heat in Halifax.
“Kunle has a big energy and has become a pillar in our identity,” Pacific gaffer James Merriman said of the defender. “He’s an incredibly dynamic fullback that can quickly create attacks in transition, he continues to develop in his position and has big ambition.”
Born in Mississauga, Dada-Luke’s career began in his native Ontario through Toronto FC III and Toronto FC II, followed by a stint with Danish side FC Helsingor who converted him from a winger to a full-back.
“Kunle and Georges are two of the most dynamic and versatile fullbacks in the Canadian Premier League,” added Merriman.
Now on his option year with Pacific, it’ll be interesting to see if Dada-Luke’s reign in purple will extend beyond the 2024 CPL season.
