Victoria Local Sean Young Staying With Pacific
Pacific FC has confirmed that Victoria-born midfielder Sean Young will remain with his local side for the 2022 CPL season.
The 20-year-old has shown a good level of growth since arriving in 2020, making 37 appearances for the west coast side across all competitions.
He scored his first professional goal against Cavalry last season and featured as a late substitute in the 2021 CPL Final, too.
Young first arrived to Pacific after developing with both the Vancouver Isle Wave program and the Victoria Highlanders, with his rookie season at The Island Games seeing him surpass expectations to usurp Noah Verhoeven’s spot in the clubs depth chart and feature in nine of ten matches.
He then made 28 appearances across all competitions for the side last year, most of which came as a substitute. With Alessandro Hojabrpour departing for Forge, however, the central midfielder now has a golden opportunity to take another big step forward in his career.
The ability to feature in continental action this year will mark another big milestone for the talented youngster, too.
The west coast side has retained midfielders Manny Aparicio, Matthew Baldisimo, Josh Heard, and Jamar Dixon for its title defense, with Marco Bustos expected back as well.
Pacific FC has confirmed that more returning athletes will be announced in the near future. It is unclear if Young’s contract with the side includes an option for a further season.
