CPL Centurion Sean Young Caps Moment With Goal

It’ll be a night to remember for Pacific midfielder Sean Young.

The Vancouver Isle original marked his one hundredth club appearance with an insurance goal for Pacific, helping his side lay claim to all three points against Winnipeg visitors Valour FC – a team he’d scored against last year, too.

The eve of the match had seen Pacific extend the Victoria native’s contract through to 2026, with a club option for a further year. As the clock struck midnight, Sean celebrated his twenty-third birthday – evidently, it’s been quite a week for the Pacific man.

It was the summer of 2020 when the Tridents turned him professional, with the Canadian growing not only in size but in importance to the Tridents midfield: a physical and commanding presence on the pitch, his fifth CPL season now sees him as a regular starter who had reportedly accrued Major League Soccer interest over the summer.

Last night’s goal was his seventh for the side, with the 2021 CPL champion becoming the first-ever Pacific FC to crack one hundred appearances for the Isle.

Team captain Josh Heard won’t be far behind, needing two more appearances to crack triple digits. He tallied the opening goal for Pacific, finishing off a selfless cross from new striker Reon Moore. Young’s goal came as he capitalized on a rebound in the Valour box following a shot from Cedric Toussaint.

Pacific FC has now opened the season with back-to-back wins, and Young has played every possible minute from them. Having featured in all but two possible matches last year, fans can expect to see the six-foot two midfielder play a big role as Pacific seeks another national title for Vancouver Isle.
