Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC has confirmed multiple returning players highlighted by club’s option trigger on midfielder Sean Young and a new one-year deal for Zakaria Bahous.

Also returning from his loan in Vietnam is Pierre Lamothe, while the club has confirmed that Steffen Yeates and Cedric Toussaint are back in the fold, too.

It has long been expected that midfielder Sean Young would be returning to Pacific, with the Tridents now activating their option on the Victoria native for 2024 CPL season.

The 22-year-old has exhibited tremendous growth since signing with the club back in 2020. Now a regular engine in midfield, the physical figure tallied four goals and four assists in 32 appearances last year and currently leads the club in appearances with 98.

“Pacific, in its creation, set out to develop local players and create a pathway to professional football,” added PFC head coach James Merriman. “Sean is an example of that development pathway and we are proud of his growth as a player and a person.”

Zakaria Bahous had arrived as a midseason reinforcement for Pacific after spending two years with Atletico Ottawo, and now signs a new deal one-year deal that includes an option for 2025.

He went on to make six appearances with the Tridents last year, allowing Merriman to get a good glimpse at what the 22-year-old had to offer.

“We are excited to continue working with Bahous,” says Merriman. “He is a talented young player with high potential and good versatility. Zak is a technical player with ample ability and vision.”

The club also confirmed midfielders Steffen Yeates and Cedric Toussaint will be returning to Starlight Stadium as well. Like Bahous, Toussaint was a midseason reinforcement (albeit from the 2022 CPL Season) who has established himself as a capable option in midfield, and is now on the last year of his contract.

Former TFC2 midfielder Steffen Yeates appeared regularly and still has a club option for 2025.

It’ll be interesting if Pierre Lamothe can break into the setup after his loan spells with Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Nam last year. Pacific holds a further club option for 2025 should the former Halifax man reestablish himself out west.

The midfielder will be without the services of Manny Aparicio, however, with the Tridents stalwart having said his farewells earlier this month.
