Phoenix Rising Snaps Up Big Free Agent In Triston Henry
It wasn’t that long ago that Triston Henry was starting in a CPL Final with then-Pacific head coach Pa-Modou Kah coaching the opposition team. Now, the duo are joining forces at USL Championship side Phoenix Rising.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper arrives from the defunct Memphis 901 FC, whom he joined last June and collected three clean sheets from seven straight appearances before the club announced it had failed to secure a permanent stadium solution.

There is little doubt, however, that the Canadian shotstopper is best known for his meteoric rise with Canadian Premier League powerhouse Forge FC, where he recorded 51 clean sheets in 142 appearances and collected no less than four league championship titles before moving stateside to keep his green card intact.
“We’re excited to have Triston joining us here at the club, he has a ton of experience and knows what it takes to win at the highest level,” says Phoenix Rising goalkeeper coach Cory Robertson. “Adding someone with his pedigree is huge for the team, and his leadership and consistency will make a big difference for us. I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing the impact he’ll have both on and off the field as we push for success this season.”

Henry’s new side has played host to a former Forge man before, with Daniel Krutzen’s final year as a player seeing him win the league in 2023. Last season they reached the quarter-finals of their conference.
“I knew from my first visit to Phoenix that this is where I’d want to be,” adds Henry himself. “It’s a club that wants to win and fight for championships each year and demands the best from you on and off the field.”
That’s a line that feels much akin to the mentality at Forge, so it’ll be interesting to see how Henry’s new USL Championship side fares as the 2025 ULS Championship season approaches. The move is pending league and federation approval.
