PSL Canada Roundup: Week 22
For the final time this year, the Premier Soccer Leagues Canada had multiple provinces in action over the past week. Football at the senior level in Ontario has concluded, while in Quebec, the last regular season games took place.
As has been the case throughout the year, Northern Tribune has you covered with all that transpired at the pro-am level. Here is the latest roundup of the action.

Ontario Premier League: Cambridge Achieves Promotion Again
Saturday saw the final game of the Ontario Premier League season take place in Sudbury, where the Cyclones faced Cambridge United in the promotion/relegation playoff.
In what turned out to be a one-sided affair, Cambridge took a 4-0 lead at the break thanks in large part to a Kyler Monterroso hattrick. Elliott Dell scored the other goal for the side that finished second in the OPL2 this term.
A fifth was added by Christian Ferraro towards the end of the match as Sudbury finished with 10 men due to Musa Joof’s red card.
The 5-0 result means that Cambridge will enjoy promotion for the second straight year. Having participated in the OPL for the first time in 2025, they will enter the 2027 campaign in OPL1.
Sudbury will make an immediate return to the OPL2 a year after finishing second in the league. Their 11th place finish in the OPL1 put them in the playoff, but sadly for them, their stay at the top division in the province is over.

Ligue 1 Quebec: FC Laval Claims Third Title
The last week of the Ligue 1 Quebec season also occurred last week, with the title and a relegation spot still to be decided.
Saturday’s most important match was at Parc Berthiaume du Tremblay, where FC Laval edged CS Longueuil 2-1. Ilyas Mardi netted the winner midway through the second half to give the hosts the win.
CS St-Laurent also completed their season on Saturday with a big 7-1 win at Ottawa South United. Six different players got on the scoreboard for the defending champions, though it would prove to not be enough.
The other significant game on Saturday saw CS LaSalle and CS St-Hubert play to a 1-1 draw, a result that ultimately benefited both teams. AS Laval had won the other match that day, 3-0 at AS Blainville.
On Sunday, Royal Beauport defeated CS Mont Royal Outremont 5-2 and, more crucially, AS Gatineau held Celtix du Haut-Richelieu to a 2-2 draw. Both teams led in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, with the visitors drawing level in the 90th minute.

For the third time in five years, FC Laval wins the Ligue 1 Quebec title. They and St-Laurent have been the sole winners of the league since 2022. Meanwhile, Longueuil joins CSMRO in Ligue 2 next term. The pair have combined for five titles in the past, making their demotions quite surprising.
Ligue 3 Quebec: AS Brossard Saves Themselves
The last Ligue 3 Quebec regular season game was completed last Wednesday in what was an important match for AS Brossard away to FS Salaberry.
Needing a win to stay in the league, the visitors came from a goal down, with Luca Preziosi scoring in the 36th minute in what proved to be the winning goal. A third was added in the second half for Brossard to prevail 3-1.

The final standings for all four divisions in Ligue 3 Quebec are finally known. AS Saint-Lambert’s time in LS PRO is done as they fall to the interregional leagues due to their head-to-head record with Brossard. Joining them there will be CS Haute-St-Charles, Vallee Blizz’Or, and Chevaliers NDMC.
Monday will have the two promotion finals, with Optimum de Victoriaville facing Ambassadeurs St-Jerome, and West Ottawa SC taking on Cosmos de Granby.
Coupe du Quebec Men’s: FC Laval Takes Down St-Laurent
It was a very good week for FC Laval: not only did they win the Ligue 1 Quebec title, they also advanced in the Coupe du Quebec.
Mardi got both of their goals away to CS St-Laurent as the away team won 2-1 on Wednesday to complete the quarterfinal lineup.
Wednesday and Thursday next week will host three of the four quarterfinals. Revolution FC will host CS St-Lazare Hudson in an all-Ligue 2 matchup. FC Laval has Victoriaville, while CS LaSalle meets Ottawa South United. The last quarterfinal will be on September 10 between AS Laval and Royal Beauport.
Coupe du Quebec Women: Beauport, CSMRO Make Final
The semifinals of the women’s Coupe du Quebec happened last week. Both winning teams prevailed by a 4-0 scoreline. On Tuesday, Beauport got past AS Chaudiere-Ouest, while CSMRO won Wednesday’s clash over Celtix.
The LS PRO women’s season will come to a close on Saturday with the final between Beauport and CSMRO as both teams look to end the year with a trophy. That will be part of a tripleheader, with the Ligue 3 final to begin the day between Victoriaville and CS Roussillon. The Ligue 2 Quebec final will follow between CS Trident and CS St-Hubert, before the cup showpiece.
