PSL Canada Roundup: Week 23
Last weekend’s PSL Canada football certainly did not disappoint as Quebec wrapped up its league season with promotion playoff finals and the Coupe du Quebec women’s showpiece.
After the last week of play, just four matches remain, all in the men’s Coupe du Quebec, and will be completed by the end of the month. It will be quite difficult to top the chaos of the latest play.
Here is Northern Tribune’s latest roundup:

Ligue 2 Quebec Women’s: Trident Claims Promotion
Saturday’s biggest game came in Ligue 2 Quebec, where the promotion final took place between CS Trident and CS St-Hubert.
The battle between the second and third place finishers saw Trident take an early lead through Florence Delisle. St-Hubert equalized before the break, with Marika Chapleau bringing her side level.
Extra time was needed at Stade Boreale, where Audrey Refreniere brought her club back ahead. That lead would not last though, with Hermione Simoneau drawing CSSH on level pegging once more.
The only attempt that did not go in during the shootout came from St-Hubert’s Alexiane Marquis, who shot her effort wide of the post. That came in the fifth round, with Deslisle stepping up right after to end the match and give Trident the victory.
A year after losing out on promotion at the final hurdle, the side from Quebec City joins their men’s team in making the step up to Ligue 1. They join CS LaSalle as this year’s promoted clubs.
Ligue 3 Quebec Women’s: Victoriaville Ends First Year With Success
In the Ligue 3 promotion final, runner ups Optimum de Victoriaville faced off versus CS Roussillon, who ended the regular season in fourth.
This also required extra time, as Victoriaville took the lead twice during the initial 90 minutes. Catherine Tourigny’s goal in the 71st minute gave them the lead, before Aurelie Champagne responded six minutes later.
Kelly-Ann Labrie then scored moments later to put the higher ranked team back in front. Just as it looked they were going to close it out, Champagne tied the score once again with a 92nd minute goal.
In the second half of the extra time period, Loralie Laberge put Victoriaville ahead for the third time in the contest. This time, Roussillon had no response, failing to score a third leveller in the remaining time.
The result means Victoriaville achieved promotion during their first season in the LS PRO system. They complete the 10-team lineup in Ligue 2 for next year. Roussillon will remain in Ligue 3.
Ligue 3 Quebec Men’s: St-Jerome, West Ottawa Go Up
The men’s Ligue 3 Quebec promotion playoffs were on Monday, with four teams looking to grab the final two places in Ligue 2 for 2027.
First up was the clash between Victoriaville and Ambassadeurs St-Jerome. It took less than three minutes for the former to go in front thanks to Antony Adam Cote. That lead lasted until the 70th minute, where Matys Brabant restored parity.
The match went into extra time, with St-Jerome taking the lead as Etienne St. Vincent finished from close range. Cote came to Victoriaville’s rescue in the dying moments, nodding in a corner from close range to force penalties.
Despite the momentum firmly going Victoriaville’s way – given the dramatic late goal – it ended up coming back to haunt them. Failing to convert two penalties in a row, St-Jerome made the most of their kicks, scoring all four of them. That helped them to a 4-2 win from the spot and securing promotion.
As was the theme throughout the long weekend, the second match between West Ottawa SC and Cosmos de Granby needed an extra 30 minutes. Despite Jacob Parent putting the latter ahead 11 minutes in, Tchimpaka Alix Basa drew level later on in the first half.
It took until the second half of extra time to decide the game between the two sides promoted from the interregional leagues. Ayden Harris’ shot in the 115th minute took two deflections and went in to put West Ottawa in the lead.
The side from the national capital held on for the final few minutes to complete the win and achieve promotion to Ligue 2. Cosmos, who was the only non-division winner to make a promotion final, misses out.

Coupe du Quebec Women’s: Beauport Gets Last Laugh
Saturday’s last game was the Coupe du Quebec final between CS Mont Royal Outremont and Royal Beauport.
CSMRO topped their group involving St-Hubert, LaSalle, and Roussillon before eliminating CS Trois-Rivieres, Ligue 1 Quebec winners AS Blainville, and Celtix du Haut-Richelieu en route to the finals.
As for Beauport, their path saw them win Group A that also featured Trois-Rivieres, CF L’International de Quebec, and CS Levis-Est. From there, wins over St-Hubert, Ottawa South United, and AS Chaudiere-Ouest brought them to the showpiece.
Both sides found the back of the net within the first 15 minutes, as Magali Gagne’s opener for CSMRO was swiftly cancelled out by Blessing Mayi Kith.
That was all the scoring in normal time, with another 30 minutes being required to decide a winner. Beauport took the lead just before the end of the first 15-minute period when Lauralie Chouinard found the breakthrough. Les Griffons did not give up though, and 10 minutes before the end of extra time, Leia Khairy tied things up.
CSMRO disappointed in the shootout as three of their five takers could not find the back of the net. Beauport, meanwhile, scored three of their four to prevail 3-2 without needing their final kick.
After finishing two points and one spot behind them in the Ligue 1 standings, it is Beauport that ends the season with silverware, adding further disappointment to CSMRO.
Coupe du Quebec Men’s: Revolution Soldiers On
The first three Coupe du Quebec men’s quarterfinals were last week, as five of the six sides scoring in their matches.
On Wednesday, Revolution FC battled past CS St-Lazare Hudson 3-1. Taking a 2-0 lead inside half an hour, the hosts were in command before conceding just past the 30-minute mark. They added a third in the second half to move on and become the only non-Ligue 1 team left.
Wednesday’s other clash ended 2-1 in FC Laval’s favour against Victoriaville. Ilyes Said Adoul was the hero for the recent Ligue 1 winners as they go one step closer to completing a domestic double.
As for CS LaSalle, they enjoyed a 4-0 defeat of Ottawa South United in Thursday’s only clash. Cleberson Dormevil scored a hattrick for the home side in a comfortable win.
The last quarterfinal, which was this past Thursday ended 2-1 for AS Laval over Beauport thanks to a brace from Mahdi Djellab. His winner, which completed a comeback for the hosts, came in the 92nd minute to send them through.
The semifinals are on 15 and 16 September. FC Laval will host CS LaSalle in the first game, while AS Laval will also be at home, taking on Revolution in their match. The final is slated for 26 September at Stade Boreale.
