Former Trident Reon Moore Ventures To Vietnam

Former Pacific striker Reon Moore is taking his talents to Vietnam.

The 28-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international left the Tridents after the ‘24 season came to an end, returning home to Defence Force FC.

He’s now embarking on a season-long loan to Song Lam Nghe An FC, who feature in Vietnam’s top flight and will be looking to enjoy a better season than their twelfth-place finish last time around.

Moore isn’t the only Defence Force player in the loan move, with big centre-back Justin Garcia also joining him on loan in Vietnam.

Moore’s spell with Pacific last year saw him get off to a hot start before a midseason slump (suspension and all) saw him eventually leave with four goals and five assists in 25 appearances, with the striker having featured in the Tridents’ Canadian Championship cup run through of a semi-final loss to the Whitecaps, and their early playoff loss to York United.

Moore has been a fringe player for Trinidad and Tobago this year, featuring off the bench in a pair of friendlies but not cracking the squad in competitive play.

His former side Pacific has struggled to finish chances consistently this season, with head coach James Merriman recently securing the on-loan return of veteran striker Alejandro Diaz, who recently broke through as the league’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Moore won’t be the only former CPL player in the Vietnamese top flight, with Pierre Lamothe – another former Pacific man – currently with Hanoi FC.
