Former Inter Toronto FC forward Adonijah Reid has swapped York Lions Stadium for a stateside stay, signing on with USL Championship newcomers Sporting Club Jacksonville on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old Canadian baller spent the three years in Canada’s top flight split between Pacific FC and Inter Toronto FC, racking up 81 appearances and ten goals over his last three campaigns.

That’s the same number of goals he tallied in two seasons with USL Championship side Miami FC beforehand, with the Brampton-born baller now back in Florida – albeit for a new club.

Reid becomes the first-ever Canadian to be named to the Sporting JAX roster, though he isn’t the only former Canadian Premier League baller to land there: Brem Soumaoro, also of Inter Toronto FC, will participate in the club’s inaugural USL Championship season.

The Jacksonville, Florida-based side was unveiled all the way back in 2023. The women’s team began play last season, with the men’s team set to kick off on March 7, 2026 against Hartford Athletic. The team will call 12,000-capacity Hodges Stadium home.

Reid’s career showed a good eye for goal even at the age of just sixteen, with the forward netting 20 goals in 20 appearances for League1 Ontario side ANB Futbol. Turning heads aplenty at the time, he earned trials with Nice and Olympique Lyonnais before joining the inaugural Generation Adidas Canada class for the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.

Reid was selected by FC Dallas that year, starting his USL Championship journey with a loan to the Ottawa Fury and establishing himself as a young talent with a high ceiling. After contributing five goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, he left the Fury to sign with French Ligue 2 side Le Havre AC, where his minutes dwindled before his return to North America through Miami.

The forward has also represented Canada at the youth level, featuring in the 2018 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship.

Inter Toronto FC’s first season under the rebrand has seen the club bring in some intriguing faces. The new era kicked off with the acquisition of former CPL MVP Ollie Bassett, with internationals like Ariel Almagro and Liga MX veteran Raul Lopez now signing on.
