With the season just around the corner for the Reds, the ball has just started rolling in terms of player singings. Following the recent signing of defender Kevin Long from Birmingham City, the reds front office is back in action signing French defender Nicksoen Gomis from English club Sheffield United.

Toronto FC has officially signed the young 21-year-old defender on a two-year deal through 2025, with further options for 2026 and 2027.

Gomis was one of the trialists with Toronto FC during the 2024 preseason and is set to be added to the roster pending some paperwork. The club also brought in full-back Richie Laryea yesterday.

“We are delighted to add Nicksoen to our club after a successful preseason trial,” said TFC General Manager Jason Hernandez. “Nicksoen quickly demonstrated his quality in defense and integrated seamlessly into our first team environment. He arrives with a strong pedigree, having formative years at distinguished European platforms. We are confident he will continue to grow within the team over the 2024 season and beyond.”

While born in France, Gomis turned professional with Sheffield United after progressing through the club’s academy system. He was loaned to National League North side Bradford AFC and Belgian second division side Beerschot ahead of his move to TFC, and has featured twice for France at the U-18 level.
